"...AS I SEE IT"

A Newsletter by Jerry Simmons As I See It................... Monday May 24th A big Texas hello from all of us at Leon's. Summer is almost here; we are already seeing 90+ temps in the afternoon, so get ready for a hot one. We are still having a great year so far. Our lunch crowds have increased and are holding steady, thanks to all of our oilfield, construction and business customers coming back and bringing someone new with them. We had a great turnout for the 2nd annual BQ cook off. It all went as planned and the grand champion winners were the Dennis Williams team (we like to call them the City of Longview Inspectors team). The brisket winners were Mark Wright & Tony Smith & the best beans winners were the boys from the Coors of Longview team. We had a great time and nobody got hurt. We also had a great fishing tournament last weekend. A lot more laid back than usual; the crowd is getting older and slower. We had 14 teams fishing and the winners were Joe Travis and Mike Hyko with 96# of catfish and they won the big fish prize with a 35# blue catfish. The second place team was Richard & Ray Werline. Great time and good fish fry. Next year will be our 19th annual event. Try to make it next year. I have got Amber Reed updating and redoing the web site. Come see us and bring somebody with you!
